Analysis of the problem by shrinkage of common ceramic fiber module in kiln 1

Dec. 24, 2018

The resilience and strong pressing method of ceramic fiber blanket can not solve the problem of heat shrinkage crack of common ceramic fiber module. The whole fiber furnace which is assembled by using the integrated module of refractory fiber can avoid shrinkage crack in furnace body and prevent heat leakage which may cause great threat to furnace shell. This improves the application of ceramic fiber in the all-fiber furnace to a new level.

The following is a detailed analysis of the cause of shrinkage cracks in the common ceramic fiber modules in the kiln. And the improvements and solutions to this problem.

There are many ways to construct an all-fiber kiln, and using common ceramic fiber module to assemble the kiln is currently the most common method. The method has the advantages of convenient and quick installation, and is suitable for various furnace types. The metal anchor for fixing the common ceramic fiber module is not exposed to the hot surface, and is not burned, and the structural strength is high. The heating surface of the common ceramic fiber module is the end face of the fiber, compared with the vertical heating of the fiber in the tiling method, the heat resistance can be improved by about 50 degrees. The all-fiber kiln constructed with common ceramic fiber module has an inevitable defect in the production process: shrinkage cracks appear on the furnace wall.

As time passes, the shrinkage cracks gradually increase and deepen, even extending to the furnace shell. In severe cases, bonfires will occur and the shell steel sheets will be burned. Therefore, how to reduce and avoid shrinkage cracks in the fiber furnace body is a problem of concern.

In this issue we mainly introduced the cause of shrinkage cracks in common ceramic fiber module in kiln. Hope this can bring help to furnace builders. Next issue we will introduce the improvements and solutions to the problems of shrinkage cracks in common ceramic fiber module in kiln.
